IT

It, by Stephen King. This book would be perfect for those who are interested in horror fiction, comedy, and thriller. You’ll have this feeling near the last few pages, a feeling that I had when I was barley in the middle of the book; the feeling of not wanting  the book to end.

Stephen kings novel IT takes place in the years of 1950s and in the years of the 1980s switching back in forth throughout the book by seeing the perspective of the main characters. During the 1950s children are terrorized by an entity that disguises itself by their fears and phobias of the victims it is preying on, but before it starts feasting on children’s flesh and fear it attracts its prey by taking a form of a clown, Pennywise The Dancing Clown. The main seven children of the book (Bill, Richie, Beverly, Ben, Eddie, Stanley, and Mike) are all encountered by IT and try to find a way kill it. It’s not easy at first, but when they believe they have really killed it they find out the real truth 27 years later in 1985. Throughout the whole book  I found it to be very exciting to turn every page, and I hope others out there who read this book feel the same way that I do. My favorite part of this book is reading how all seven children came together and became friends by the school bullies and/or by IT.  It gives off a feeling on how most people can feel in reality and also shows what each character’s personality is like and how you can compare & relate yourself to them. It’s really heart touching at some point throughout the book and scary when seeing the characters personalities and their encounters of IT and the bullies.

The main character of this novel is William Denbrough,  but goes by the name of stuttering bill by his close friends due to his stutter. Bill is very much like the leader to the group and they also consider him as leader of the group  or the losers club is how they call it.  Bill is considered as the leader since he is the one who started the “war” with IT since his younger brother George had been killed by IT and since  Bill is the bravest from the rest when encountering IT. But  for Bill to get over his stutter he has to repeat the saying or tongue twister: “He thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.” Which is said throughout the whole book.

I really enjoyed reading this book From beginning to end, I loved learning about the characters. Turning each page gave me an excitement to keep turning each page gave me an excitement to keep reading on, to finish the book and to see how long it would actually have taken me to read the entire book. When I turned the last page and read that last word I felt sadness and proud. Sadness because I didn’t wanted it to end just yet and proud because I had completed reading the longest book I have ever read. I never thought I could actually do it, I’ve had some of my classmates at school ask me why bother reading such a big book that would take so long to finish or when my friends asked me why are you reading this book, just to show off? No, I read this book because I LOVE READING. I loved watching the mini series and watching the movie and that by reading this book would be like checking it off my bucket list. That reading this book would give me more information that couldn’t have been given in the movie or the mini series. I really hope when others read this book and complete it they feel proud of themselves that they had made such an accomplishment and feel the same way with any huge book, really. Haven’t you felt the same way? Maybe not with a book maybe with something else, then maybe you know how I feel, I know I’m going to read this book again sometime, but for now I’m going to take a break and display it on my book shelve along with the other books I have completed.

Start: Oct 6th, 2017
Finish: Feb 19th, 2018

A freshman to be...

Slice Of life

3 days ago — during school — all 8th grade students met with our counselors to talk about the classes we were suggested for us to take in freshman year. I was so happy and proud of myself that I got great classes. I  know most people are afraid, nervous or don’t really care about going to high school, but I’m really excited to attend. I’ve heard awesome fun stories from my sister — which attends the high school I will be going to — and I can’t wait to get my first feel of what it’s like to be attending high school; the clubs, the new friends and teachers, and what it feels to be a freshman. All these thoughts came into my mind once I met with my counselor. Class of 2022, can’t wait!
Countdown until I’m a freshman: 70 Days *and counting down

One word, Courage

Courage

To me, courage is to have strength, to keep my head up during tough and challenging situations and to be brave.
Living my word in 2018 will change my life because of the challenges I face in my life, I will have courage when I want to be myself; show the real me even when others try to bring me down by my appearance and by the way I act. To be me an not someone I’m not. I will have courage in myself when I’m struggling in a assignment or assessment during school and not to have fear when I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to start/learn on new objectives that I’m not familiar of. I will have courage in myself to share my opinions to others and to not fear on what they think about them at first. I will have courage in myself to be the leader when no one else steps up to be it.
But most importantly I should not forget that I will have courage to grow and to move on when there is losses in my life. I will have courage to go down New or old paths even when I know or don’t know that it would bring new beginnings that I might think that would never happen in my life, or during thoughts paths there would be new/old feelings to me that I might not understand or want to feel.
For me to follow this word in the year of 2018, I planned to keep it in places where it is most likely for me to see it, such as my room, school locker, and on my technology devices to always remind me to have strength in myself even when I fear to do most things; to be brave.

A greyhound of a girl

1-4-18

A greyhound of a girl, by Roddy Doyle. This book is perfect for those who are interested in a paranormal historical fiction, but also has a heartwarming feeling from beginning to end.

An Irish teenage girl named Mary is visited by Tansey a deceased woman who is somehow related to her. Soon Mary finds out that Tansey is here to guide Emer (Mary’s grandmother)  when she passes. As days pass Emer is getting weaker and weaker, but the family tries their best to make her last few days the best. Throughout the book the author gives us readers small chapters to provide us with information on how Emer and Tansey are closely related. From beginning to end the book will want you to keep on reading, and once it ends you’ll be begging for more. My favorite part of this book is when the family tries to give Emer the best day she can. During that chapter the author tells the readers the advantages and disadvantages of being a ghost. It explains how Tansey has to deal with it and while reading that I could almost visualize it which would then make me giggle.

The main character is Mary O’Hara. Mary is a very cheeky teen especially when it comes to Mary’s mother and grandmother. According to the book “ The same way, like, I’d have to murder someone if I wanted to become a world-famous murderer,” said Mary. “Not that I’m looking at anyone in particular.” Cheekiness was often a sign of intelligence. So Scarlett usually liked it when Mary was being cheeky. My brained daughter has insulted me yet again! Sometimes, though, it was just tiring, and even Marys snores sounded cheeky.”(Pg.13) This quote means that Scarlett (Mary’s mother) realizes that Mary is being cheeky or rude when she’s trying to make a point and Scarlett has seen that as a sign of intelligence, but has also seen it as an insult to herself.

I liked this book because I kept me really interested in it from beginning to end and when I finished my last page i wanted to read more. To me this book was the kind of book that i just didn’t want to end just yet which is the same way I felt with another book called PIE. I’ve read most of the book at first in 7th grade but when cool was coming to an end so was the school’s library, so i never got to read the rest of the book. When I came back to school and I found out that one day in ELA our class had a chance to go to the library, I reimbursed that i had never finished this book and I’m so glad i found it and got a chance to finally finish it. Which also makes me want to recommend this ok to other people because i think they might use enjoy this book as much as i did and once they finish the book they’ll understand what I’m talking about. The theme of this story is to have courage even when your loved ones will soon leave you, which is exactly what happening with Marys family throughout the book.

Perfection....

The perfect friend would be the person I could go for good advice, who would text everyday just to see what’s up, the perfect friend who would bring me back up when I’m down, the friend who I could talk to about my problems or whine about how some things are struggling for me, the friend who comes over to my house every weekend or a friend who lets me come to their house every weekend. A friend who remember the little things in my life, a friend who’s got my back, the friend who makes the dumbest funniest jokes just to make me laugh and smile everyday. The best friend who would be with me from now on, but also the friend who accepts me for me and for me to be their best buddy.

The perfect X-mas break, I would love to have my friends over for a hangout and give presents to one another, have a feist and a sleepover so the day would be forever in our memories. I would love to go out on Christmas Day, this year we are planning on hanging out with our cousins on Xmas day and try ice skating and I’m really hoping that we decide to do that. For the Holliday’s I would to be busy on the holidays, but not work busy, I want to be at places where it makes me feel like Xmas and New Years are the best holidays of all time. On New Years I would also like to have a big celebration where everyone I know and love is there and when the clock hits 12:00 we all celebrate with a big fiest and make wishes to happen in the new year. It’ll be the best perfect holiday vacation I will ever have.

PIE

12-12-17

PIE, by Sarah Weeks. This book mostly holds, fiction, adventure, and mystery which brings a great excitement to turn each page as you go on in the book.

This book takes place in 1955 where Polly, the pie queen of Ipswich, passes away with her niece and the whole town mourning for the loss. Alice is left with her aunt's extraordinary fat, remarkably disagreeable cat, Lardo who seems to have the secret to her aunts world famous pie crust recipe. Now everyone wants to get their hands on the secret recipe to be the next famous person with the best pie crust and win the Newbery Medal. Now it is up to Alice and her friend Charlie to discover the not so secret recipe and keep it as family treasure forever. With this book you'll enjoy every last bite of PIE. My favorite part of this book is when we find out if Lardo (Polly’s cat) has the recipe to Polly’s World Famous pie crust, the ending was stunning for me as I’m sure it will be too for others if they read this book.

The main character is 10 year old Alice is very ambitious when it comes to find the secret pie crust recipe and more mysteries that need to be solved, according to the book “ ‘I don’t know,’ ” said Alice “ ‘But I’m sure if we put our heads together, we can figure it out.’ ” (Page. 79) I can’t say to much, you’ll have to find out what mystery Alice and her friend Charlie are going to try to solve, by reading the book.

I loved this book I’ve read 3 times and it never gets old. Everytime I turn the page it’s like I haven’t read it before, it’s a surprise every page and very heartwarming from beginning to end. After reading this book I really do recommend this book to others or even my friends. It may be short, but it really sticks in you heart for a very long time. It’s my favorite book of all time and would relate to people in real life like in friendships, losses and in fresh starts… Though the theme would really stick out to some or many, but I know for sure it sticked out to me, that friendship heals the heart when in sorrow times and that the little things like memories, objects or even a person (or even a cat) stick with us even when we lose them. This book will always be my favorite book, and I’ll probably continue reading it time to time, “There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we spent with a favorite book.” - Marcel Proust.   “I am a reader, not because I don’t have a life, but because I chose to have many.” - Unknown
