10:00 sharp & a nice day to see nature

Slice of Life - 30

A year ago today at 10pm sharp me and my family went on a roadtrip... a really long road trip. We went through 6 states in 8 days. It was so awesome, but this year we decided no to do it again. We have to many things that we have planned during spring break. So tomorow we are having a one year annversary dinner, for traveling to our main points, Colorado, Utah, & Arizona. I miss that trip so much, I'll never forget it.

Today me and my family went out, instead of staying indoors. We went to 3 forest preserves. They were all beautiful. We walked in the paths and on the 3/final preserve we went to we were lucky enough to see deer! We took many pictures and I road on my skateboard for a little while. It was nice to get away from the hard things, technology, & people. Every one should do that once in a while, I know I will.

A Halloween Present

Slice of Life - 29

The only reason I decided to type up this blog is because my cat Roxy is laying on my bed right next to me at the moment. ๐Ÿ˜„❤

When we first got Roxy, we didn't know at all that we were getting a cat. Kitten, correction. We invited my cousin over so she can go to a Halloween event with us. We waited and waited. When we saw her coming up the stairs in the front of our house, we didn't even notice how she was carrying her helmet. *her Halloween costume had to do with the air force. When she came up we have her a hug, and then we heard a meow from somehere, honestly we thought it was a stray cat. Then she lifted a small black blanket *or something and revealed a small adorable black kitten!❤❤❤❤ Oml my heart is melting right now as it was back then. That was the best surprise me and my siblings will probably ever get! We named her Roxy. A feisty, adorable, cat that is sometimes mistevious and sweet to hang around... I luv my cat. ๐Ÿ˜ป

5 hours ahead....

Slice of Life - 28

I know that I’ve said that I was going to dedicate these blog to my past, well I’m gonna have to combine that story with one from today. Yes a story that got made in my mind from today.

So today might friend got on a 10:30 a.m. flight and left without say goodbye, just kidding. Of course she said goodbye, but I still miss her. She took a flight to Hawaii... HAWAII!!! I know I complained about this yesterday, but  I just wanted to make everything clear. Today we did have the field trip, field trip to the Holocaust Museum  which was heartbreaking and interesting for an about, we even got hear from a survivor. Im thankful I got the chance he shared about his life of being almost caught and hiding out from the war.
So I got to text her in the morning before she leaves on the flight. Turns out all six hours of school she still did not land. So we waited for her, turns out it was a nonstop flight  for nine hours. Nine hours! And she text us some photos of Hawaii outside of her plane window. At 8:19 PM she Text us. It also turns out that we are five hours ahead of her. Can you do the math? That means that it’s  3:19 PM over there.  First of all she’s lucky, but I just wanted to wish you have a great time on a vacation. Tomorrow is the last day of school, until spring break.. So have a awesome  Spring break!

OK, another story. My best buddy, Fernanda, ask me a question a couple days ago, “what was your childhood song?”  I think about it for a second but remembered. It  was ‘Hey There Delilah’  not sure from who but I remember our usually always sing that song. That also made me think of songs that were in old TV shows that I was watch as a kid. Have you ever heard of these:
Fruit Salad by: The wiggles
Bob the builder
Suit Life of Zack and Cody
Scooby doo
Dora the Explorer
Seaseme Street
BARNEY
Dragon Tales
The magic school bus
The Fairy Odd parents
The wizards of Waverly Place
The Bernstein bears
Blues clues

* basically all the theme songs of the shows I watched in my childhood, oh by the way any of the shows that are not listed on here that you might know, I’m probably still watching them, at the age of 14, Yep.

WHAT IS UP WITH TODAY?!?!

Slice of Life - 27

I don’t know what is up with today! There’s so many upsetting and exciting things that are going on. Ok let’s start, today was one of my best buddy — Lily — last day at school today. I don’t mean like forever, like she’s leaving us. I mean that she’s leaving because she’s going on vavcation for spring break, and you wanna know where? HAWAII! Hawaii, what, why, how?!? Agh, she’s so lucky. First of all I’m jealous and second of all I’m gonna miss her, she said she’s leaving tomorrow morn. And staying at Hawaii for 7 days. ๐Ÿ˜ซ I’m gonna miss you Lily. I was gonna go on a family trip, but something came up so yeah. When I came home today I did my homework and finished it, YAY. After that I went on opinion quizzes and I GOT HOOKED, I COULDN’T STOP. I know some may be lies or made up, but they really made my day! Another thing was that ROSEANNE IS BACK!!! Remember when I made a blog ‘Flash To the Past’? Well I wrote about the show Roseanne, a really good show. Finally came back, we’re watching it together as a family. And finally tomorrow we are going on a field trip, to the holocaust museum. I’ve been there before, it was a interesting and said trip. I don’t really remember much, but I do remember some things. It’ll me nice to pay a visit there again.๐Ÿ™‚

Opinion quizzes for me and you!!!

Should I start the countdown?

Slice of Life - 26

I don’t know maybe this is a little too late, but there are five more days of the month. Which means five more blogs  and I decided to dedicate each of these  last few blogs to my early childhood. So for this blog  i’m going to take you to my third-grade.  Why you ask? Well because  I  didn’t attend my elementary school from the start. I came around the middle of third grade. I remember feeling nervous and excitement because this was a new start a fresh start. I was excited to make new friends and nervous to meet the new people and teachers. When we got our house my parents told us that we were going to meet someone, but instead we were meeting our house. I’m still currently living in the same house we first moved into here in Berwyn. Then I got to attend my elementary school. I can’t even believe on how many people are still at our middle school from the same elementary school that we are connected to. Just to see the older faces. I wouldn’t have never had known that my future best buddy was in the same class I had first came to in 3rd grade. Her name is Mia, she was quiet then, but she sure isn’t at all. Mia’s loud and I mean loud, but not the kind that you would get annoyed of, but the kind you need in your life to make you laugh at random points of the day. There are other people I see in Heritage that are from our old elementary school that I’m not close to, but I still talk to them when I get the chance to. It’s so exciting and amazing how some of us stick together. Moving to Berwyn was probably the greatest things our family has done in a long time. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade were awesome, meeting new friends, saying goodbye to others. But 6th, 7th, and 8th are the best, why? Because those who had stick with us from elementary school going into the middle school that was connected to our elementary school, those are the people  that make the years great. I’ll miss some, but I’m sure they’ll keep sticking on though High school. Chicago may be my home, but Berwyn is where my heart lays.

Just a random story, well not exactly

Slice of Life - 25

Today we got DOMINOS!!! Delicious garlic crusted pizza. It was really good and if you haven't tried it you definitely should. But that wasn't why I wanted to write this blog, not to suggest a pizza place you should try. No, the pizza reminded me and my family of when we went camping with our cousins. We first went before we had even invited our cousins. The camp was really interesting, we went around fathers day weekend. The second time we decided to go we brought our cousins with us. We had to drive down south of IL. It took a long while, probably about 2-3 hours. Turns out it was a rainy day forecast and we hesitated if we should even still have the trip. We did, go on which wasn't really a good idea. It rained HARD on our drive to camp that we couldn't see anything ahead of us, just the rain pouring in hard on our car windows. We decided to sleep in Motel 6. We ordered Dominos and hanged out in our motel rooms. Our whole family had fun having our first "sleepover" togeher eating Dominos for the first time. The next day we ended up going to the camp and stayed there for the day. I'm happy to be reminded about that day, because it was a blast.

Oh and I forgot to let u guys know that yesterday night we had watched another movie, so basically a Family Movie Night! We watched Star Wars the Last Jedi. Oml it was soooooo good. I really recommend it if you haven't seen it. I would rate it 5/5 if I could!

2 years ago today...

Slice of Life - 24

I don't know if you remember, but I had blogged about my braces a little while ago. Today is my "anniversary" of when I got braces, 2 years ago. Yes they were a struggle, but they had made me into who I am today, I mean my smile of course๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ˜. I do and I don't miss them, but I'm thankful that I'm proud to smile freely, not worrying about others thinking about how bad my teeth was. So I thank my parents for giving me them. So CHEERS to me! For getting braces, keeping them on for 18 months, and for getting them off on Oct. 5! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿฅ‚

Oh fun fact: I had to get a tooth taken out from the front of my bottom jaw, that's how bad my teeth was before I got those braces! I'm thankful I got them straightened! Thanks mom and dad!❤

2 in 1!

Slice of Life - 23

Today we had no testing. Yayayayayaya, but yes of course there had to be a but. I don't like my schedule, I mean the schedule during PARCC was nice, I got to switch my way of classes, I got shorter classes. Yet the problem with that was the 80-90 min testing period. The problem with schedule we got back to is that we have to go back to 90min classes, but there's no PARCC. Ughhhhh, there's nothing going right, but ehh I only have about 2 months left of school.

BOOK REVIEW! The book I read is called Everyday, honestly I fell in love with it. I didn't want it to end. However I found out there was a sequel to the book. YAS! I also found out *technically I found out before I though about the book, there is a movie that came out this year! So I decided to read the book before I saw the move. This book is pretty sweet and very interesting. Anyway let's cut to the chase... There's this spirit that is called A, why? Because A switches bodies Every Day. He's been like that since he was born and he found out that there's nothing he/she can do to stop it. Oh and btw A doesn't really have a specific gender and he switches bodies with any one he's near and it only lasts until midnight, he/she has to live the day like normal for every body equally. So A switches in the body of Justin which is Rhiannon's boyfriend, he sees how he treats her and tries to leave the day on a good note for Rhiannon, but he falls in love her... A bunch of things go wrong and right, but I want you to read and watch the movie to find out! It shows how different and similar we are with eachother, and how we can love stand so strong when we look different from one another. It's such a sweet and heart touching book. You'll want to read this book Every Day.

FINALLY FREEEEEEE!!!

Slice of Life - 22

Today was the last day of testing, parcc testing. YASSS!!! ๐Ÿ˜€To be honest I'm not sure what the parcc testing is really meant for, but I'm glad I survived through the six long tests we did for 80-90 mins per test. I know the title of this blog might be a little exaggerated, but honestly tests are kind of struggling. They're supposed to see what we know and challenge us. That also means that it's close to the end of 8th grade, and I shouldn't be complaining because the test in high school and college will be even more harder than the ones in Middle School. These tests will help us grow more to be prepared for high school and college. That's what's also school is for. So this blog is for me and for the rest of the students in my middle school who survives 6 tests that were each 80 to 90 minutes long. To us!๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿ˜…๐ŸŒŸ

I know this blog is a lil short, but idk if you want to read a whole paragraph.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Funday Wednesday

Slice of Life - 21

Exactly 10 more days, I AM ON A ROLL, and I heard things about this challenge like it's to hard, you forget to blog, you miss a day, you have nothing interesting to blog about. However it's really easy, and your hearing this from a beginner. And it's all because of my best buddies and on how they remind me to blog ever single day. ๐Ÿ˜ŠThanks!
Moving on today in Math we had a little special activity. Since we have texting this week my math teacher had given is a brain break and given us the opportunity to learn how to play chess! I'm gonna be honest with you I thought it was going to be boring, but no it wasn't it was actually really fun. I can't wait to play tomorrow again.
After school me and my two other Buddies go to three clubs on Wednesdays. We go to Me to We, Art Club, and youth Crossroads. We had a blast, and we shared more things about ourselves that may just come even closer and trust each other even more. I'm so glad and thankful that I can have these kind of Buddies in my life. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

A lonely day, turned right...

Slice of Life - 20

Yesterday me and my best buddies wanted to hangout, yet we couldn't. So I tried to convince my MOTHER, and it worked. I went the library, yet not many people do that now an days, JOIN ME! *I'm not trying to be creepy, lol. I'm so happy that I ended up getting to come, but I was the only one sadly. BUT I'M STILL HAPPY. We watched some YouTube, talked about, some stuff๐Ÿ˜‰, and we watched Zombie Land. I had a lot of fun today, and I can't wait to hangout with my friends tomorrow!!!

Come back in, RIGHT back out & something a lil' special

Slice of Life - 19

For this blog, its gonna be a special one, 2 stories in 1. Today was, well, a little weird. Today's Monday, which means we come back to school, right? Well today we did have school, but we found out that tomorrow we don't... Didn't we just come back from a break!?!? I mean yes *it' really nice to stay up for another day. But what was the meaning of today? I mean we got a 2 day break and we come to "work" for a day then go straight to break. Ehh... I shouldn't be complaining, I like having breaks. Anyway, moving on... As I was walking back home from school today in the afternoon, I walked with my buddy Fernanda. We were talking about how my other buddy Lily wanted us to come over her house and have a hangout/sleepover *spolier, none of us got to attend it, I'm still sorry Lily, lol. I texted my mom if I can go over, as I was waiting for the text, it simply said "No." Honestly I thought it was kind of harsh, but I didn't want to get in the argument, since I could change her mind, which I didn't in the end. So me and my buddy Fernanda parted ways and headed home. When I got home I always enter through the back, so I did. My siblings were playing in our backyard, and my mom was waiting for me in the back porch. She was holding this package in her hand, I didn't know what it was at the at the time honestly it took me a little while to realize what it was until she held the package up for me to see the brand. I was so excited when I saw my glasses brand on it. Remember when I told you that my old glasses were going to have to "retire" in a blog that I had posted a little while ago? Well those new glasses that at my parents had ordered for me had arrived today! I'm currently wearing them right now writing this blog, and they are dark blue close to the shape as my old glasses. I'm so happy they came a little early, but that doesn't mean I will forget about my old glasses, preferably my original glasses. Which I still love, since they defined me for the beginning of my last year of Middle School.

☀️A day out on a warm sunny day๐ŸŽพ

Slice of Life - 18

Since today was such a nice day out, preferably 50-55 degrees, me and my family decided it was a perfect day to go out. We also decided to go play tennis at the park. Me and my family LOVE playing tennis, ever since we moved here that's one of our Hobbys when we go to the park. Now that winter end is very close and spring is right around the corner, this means that me and my family are going to the park more often. We played tennis and I am currently sore right now, and after we went to a restaurant named Pop's which makes the delicious gyros me and my family have ever eaten๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ. I'm full and sore right now typing this blog up. Now that we're home it's time to take a shower and watch The Walking Dead, which is one of our family shows we always watch on Sunday's around 8p.m. When it airs. Today was a really nice day to go out. I had fun with my family, so, I can't wait for spring!!!๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒฆ

Movie night! ๐Ÿ“ฝ❤️

Slice of Life -17

For Saturday night me and my family decided to watch 2 movies, Justice League and Jumanji: welcome to the Jungle. We watched them on this Show Box app on my dads phone and connected it to the TV. Both movies were really good! I recommend it to you! I'm a really big fan of the DC comics so watching the justice league again, was great! I've also seen Jumanji before, but this one was also a great. My family watch a lot of movies, sometimes over and over again or we watch new ones. This is a way of how me and my family get together and I always love it after the movie when we can't stop talking about it. Thriller, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Action, you name it, we'll watch and love it. Together as a family.❤️

๐Ÿ˜Brace Face, Train Tracks, Metal Mouth, whatever you want to call it...

Slice of Life - 16

When I first got my braces it was on March 24th, 2015 - October 5th, 2016. I know such a long time! I'm glad I got them off, they really, really, helped with straightening my teeth. I don't know if people who have already gotten their braces off, but I kind of miss them. I always complained that I wanted them off already, but when the day come to actually take them off, I was starting to feel like I didn't want them to go. I have so many photos of me with them on, that it actually brings back memories. There were so cons of braces, like the wires poking and cutting the inside of your mouth, the bands, the "spending 6 minutes in the bathroom, brushing your teeth", etc. But braces are more than that. Some of us are even lucky to get braces, I'm very thankful that I got them on and off. P.S. I never got insulted or bullied on by wearing the braces, I only wrote all those insults as my title to get you to read this... I'm joking, I'm joking! I was the one who kinda was calling myself those names! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Just what I wanted...

Slice of Life - 15

I'm dedicating this blog to one of my best buddies.
Yes, yes I might have exaggerated on the title for this blog, but it was only for you to read it. I'm joking! I'm joking! Though I have gotten what I wanted in the past like pets, a skateboard, a little brother, our own house, a better school, but those are for other blogs. Wow I just gave myself more ideas on what I should write about for my next blogs. Anyway I'm not sure when I got my first glasses, but I know it last year, 2017. I've always wanted glasses, but I found out that having glasses isn't always the best thing. There are some cons from having to wear them like the greasy/sweaty bridge of your nose, the first slip the glasses make from your nose, the greasy/dirtiness of the lenses, etc. Even though I knew I had to go through this, I still wanted them. I got purple glasses (my favorite color) with a rounded-square for the shape of where the lenses go. When they had finally arrived I was so happy to put them on! They're lasted a long time, but I'm afraid it's time for them to retire. I dropped them a while ago and the side had started to break off, I still wore them cause I love them, but I had to chose new ones. They're coming in a week from now, and I can't wait. But I'll still remember my OG glasses.
Oh and BTW when I had first gotten my glasses I had only gotten my braces off a few months ago, good thing am I right? Hehe.๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ‘“❤

When? When will this stop?

Slice of Life - 14

Today in school we had an assembly about the Florida shooting on Ferbuary 14th. We supported the innocent who lost their lives by attending the assembly, wearing the color orange to support them, and took a school photo outside of the school in the shape of a heart with the number 17. Students had spoken what they had thought of the situation. Mosley about when the gun violence will stop, especially school shootings. I'm truly sorry for those who had lost their lives and many of us are supporting them by attending the events. Today's national walk out day and even if you didn't walk out its important to still think about the situations about gun violence. Another shooting had taken place in Alabama a couple day ago, Another school shooting! When will this stop? If not now, when?

PARCC ๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ˜ค

Slice of Life - 13

Yep this is gonna be a boring blog. So today was the first day of PARCC testing, I don't want to be rude, but UGHHHHH. I need to let everything free from my body, I'm so sleepy and tired. This first Park test was reading. Okay so it wasn't that bad because the stories were actually pretty interesting, but the way I felt afterwards was sleepy. I thought I got enough sleep compared to my other friends, I went to sleep the day before at 9:30 p.m. while my other friends went to sleep around 11 p.m. so why was I so sleepy I honestly don't know. I hope it doesn't go on like this even though I have 6 more tests to do! I know we had to do these tests for a good reason, but the thing I extremely dislike is that we have to do it in the morning only about 40 minutes after we have woken up. Luckily my best buddies were there to cheer me up and wake me up. Plus I do like the new schedule, shorten periods. I hope I get used to the schedule, soon. Though I still got my Buddies, so I'm good for now.
Hmmm maybe a lil coffee can help? Oh and btw me and my friends decided that we should bring something special for ourselves to get us awake before and during the test. Any suggestions?๐Ÿ˜ช☕
Oh and tomorrw's PI day! Aka 3.14159265...
Yeaaaahhhh, it's got to many numbers, heh.๐Ÿ˜ช
I'll soon make blogs about my past... soon very soon๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘.

๐Ÿค—The 5 musketeers๐Ÿค—

Slice of Life - 12

NUMBA 12! Is gonna be a special one. It about my best buddies, I don't call any of my buddies, friends, because that's what everyone always uses let's use something different, something you don't hear every now and then! So the origin buddy came from one of my best buddies, Mia. She had said that in 4th and 5th grade, but then had stopped, so credit to you Mia! But any way *get to the point already๐Ÿ™„. My best buddies are Fernanda, Lily, Mia, and Zaleth. They're all so funny and weird to be honest, but so am I and we all need those kind of people in our lives, and I'm so thankful to have the in mine๐Ÿ˜Š. Sure we have some bumps in the road, but we always make up in the end, maybe by some dumb funny jokes. So this morning while in bed my phone buzzes -a message notification- from our group chat. It was Lily, she had messaged us a collage of photos of all 5 of us. I was so happy to wake up to it and so happy that she had messaged "I'm gonna place it as my lock screen." I am too Lily. So this blog is to remind you for the friends you have now and the ones you could possibly have in the future. Keep them for as long as you can in your lives because when you lose them you'll regret it. So this is to you guys! Lily. Fernanda. Mia. Zaleth. My best buds. Weirdo's of 2018๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—.

๐ŸคShrimp Night!๐Ÿด

Slice of Life - 11

Today I decided that I wanted to make dinner for my whole family, which is only 5 of us including me, but we eat like monsters so that's why I exaggerated when I said "whole". Anyway, yesterday was the actual day I decided, so me, my lil' bro and my dad went to the grocery store to get the rest of the ingredients. Today I was actually excited to make it, instead of me making it I should also give credit to my dad since he helped me through it. I love baking and cooking and when I get the chance to do it I got for it. I also like it when my parents like the food I make! It always feels good, I mean everyone can relate right!? I usually like making shrimp dinners and this was the first shrimp dinner I made, the next one I want to make is shrimp with asparagus! Soon maybe! And I usually get the ideas from a YouTube channel called Tasty. I know look at me using YouTube! I mean you could get anything out of it so thanks to YouTube and Tasty! ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ˜›

Stand by me... ๐Ÿ“ฝ❤️

Slice of Life - 10

I have to thank my best bud, Fernanda, for requesting this movie for me to watch. She had reminded me after she had seen my 80's - 90's blogpost. The movie Stand By Me was not on my list and she had asked me why, turned out I haven't gotten the time to watch it, so yesterday night and this morning I had finished watching the movie. I usually like watching movies that have to deal with the 80's and 90's and have teens or tweens as the main cast, so I knew right away I was going to like it, and I did. If I could rate this from 1-10 I would rate it a 10! It's very touching and I do recommend it to others, I could watch it again if I could, which I probably will soon. ๐Ÿ˜Š I think this week I'll be watching other movies from the 80's and 90's I haven't seen yet! Got any requests anyone? Oh and P.S. I added the movie on my fav 80's and 90's list on my old blogpost!❤️

Wisdom teeth ๐Ÿ˜ท

Slice of Life - 9

Today I left early from school, my mom came to pick me up so she can take me to Loyola. Ehh nothing tragic or anything happened to me *at least not yet, but I have to take my wisdom teeth out. All 4, I know this may seem a lil' early to you, but the doctor said since I was taking out one I should decide to take out all 4 (so I won't be going back and forth). Any who , when we got there we, well, we kinda got lost. My mom kept asking for directions, turned out we had to walk almost all the way across the campus. It was fun walking around through the campus, but I just don't really like the feeling of coming there, since a lot of tragic things go on there, I hate thinking about it. We got to the Oral surgery clinic and The McGuire center, one the doctor had checked my blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation. Then they came in and talked about why I needed my tooth to be taken out, because I need to be put a crown on my root canal and wisdom tooth is is blocking the procedure from happening. They told me and my mom that I was gonna be put under anesthesia, I was kind of getting nervous๐Ÿ˜ฐ. Turns out I have to go back during spring break for the actual procedure since we had to make an appointment and I would get to eat lots of ice cream after the procedure! Oh P.S. brush your teeth kids!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Slice of Life

I loved so many things from the 80’s and 90’s and if I could possibly live in that era I would. But I’m gonna lists the basics, no, favorites. I’m literally gonna make a list because before I made this blog I told my mom what I was gonna write about, movies, shows, music, etc. and I realized how much I love from the 80’s and 90’s. So yeah, ima have lists. ๐Ÿ˜‚ btw no judgment needed.

                                                                    Music

I’m not gonna lie we all have guilty pleaseures and I think this is one of them, and I’m gonna have to blame my mom for this because she plays this band A LOT, when I’m in the car...

1) Don’t want to lose you now
2) Show me the meaning of being lonely
3) I want it that way
Aghhh, I feel embarrassed sharing this, but I want to. It’s my moms fault, I thought I would never listen to this  kind of band, but my mom kept replaying the songs, so then I found out that I like them when I actually knew the lyrics. So, thanks mom. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป They have good meaning, I don’t really expect you listening to these, but yeah.

80’s
1) Take on me
    a-ha
2) Livin on a Prayer
    Bon Jovi

    The Clash
6) Time after time
    Cyndi Lauper
7) Total Eclipse of the heart
    Bonnie Tyler
8) Tainted Love
    Soft Cell

My hair ❤️

Slice of Life - 7

I’ve been dying my hair for 3 years now, ever since the day before the 1st day of 6th grade. I remember that day clearly, I had dyed my hair pink and purple at the tips of my hair. I’ve always wanted dye it before I have even have done it. So when my mom gave me the opportunity to do it, I went for it. I’ve dyed it many colors, and I love how it looks every time I dye it. But this year *8th grade I decided to dye my whole head burgundy and keep it the same color for months. I still have it the same color right now, I re-dyed it yesterday just for picture day. I don’t know if I’ll stop anytime soon. But it makes me feel good, that I have the kind of parents that are ok with me doing this, that I’m myself when I have my hair like this. I know not everyone has this kind of opportunity, but I’m thankful I am.

๐Ÿ“ธSo...tomorrow’s picture day, “yay”๐Ÿ‘—

Slice of Life - 6

So tomorrow’s 8th grade picture day, which means I get a free dress down!!! Yayayayaya! I mean I would tell you what I would wear, but I’m not that kind of gurl. Yeah. Anyway the reason I'm blogging about this is because tomorrow we are supposed to take pictures with and without the gowns. That reminded me that how much we have left in our lives, this school year is going by sooooo fast, I think I’m gonna miss it. I know I’m gonna miss my friends who are not going to the same high school with me, but I’ll make new friends right? But not the same ones I’ve made this year... but that’s not what I’m also gonna miss, I’m gonna miss my middle school HMS, I’ve been there for 3 years. A lot of people have helped me along the way. I’m gonna miss my teachers, sure I could visit, but still. I’m growing old to fast, we all are. I don’t know what is held for me in the future, but I’m getting prepared thanks for middle school. Life’s short, so from now on I’m gonna live everyday with my family, best friends, favorite teachers and all the laughs I could get, cause “A day without laughter is a day wasted” and “growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional”.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป‍๐ŸŽจWord’s, watercoloring, and some more words๐Ÿ–Œ

Slice of Life - 5

I made these yesterday night with my sisters watercolors *which I didn’t ask for permission to use them, but ehh she wasn’t even using them, so ha! Anywho, I’ve seen these a lot, watercoloring, calligraphy I fell in love with all of it and I just went for it. I grabbed all of the supplies and began to paint then after it was dry I chose a word that really stuck with me. I’m not done just yet I’ve decided that I want to continue doing this. It may be messy, but it sure is fun to express everything in one piece of paper. These words are living within me everyday. So instead of just holding the words in my head and heart I decided to express it by making this! I might hang them up or just make some and give to friends. I think this might just be my new hobby!๐Ÿ˜†

Loose/lost dog ๐Ÿ•

Slice of Life - 4

Ok so if it wasn’t for one of my best buds to remind me about this then idk if I would’ve remembered to blog about this. Thanks Fernanda!

Ok so on Friday —February 23rd— my friend Fernanda and I were supposed to walk to school together, which is what we do almost everyday. So I get out of my house around 7:40 a.m. I decide to check my phone to see if my friend has texted me yet to let me know if she’s waiting for me by the corner we usually meet. But instead it’s says “Viv hurry”. So  I hurry up to go meet her and instead of seeing her at the corner I see this dog.  Now my friend has told me that she had gotten a new dog and I never seen it, so at first I thought “oh there’s Fernanda’s dog! But what is it doing here without a leash?”  So I hurry up closer and it turns out Fernanda’s on the other side of the street I approached the dog getting closer and closer and so she comes to the sidewalk  i’m walking on and I keep asking her “do you know this dog? Is this your dog?”  Fernanda just kept shaking her head. Then the dog runs up to me, at first I was thinking oh no this dog is going to jump on me and attack me, but it was afraid of me. The dog continue running around like it wanted to play.  Fernanda then says to me “I tried to pet it, but it growled at me.”  Me and Fernanda didn’t know what to do, then Fernanda says “oh I remember seen this dog on your block” I remembered too. Fernanda suggested that maybe we should knock on the persons door and tell them that their dog is loose, but we had forgotten which house we had seen the dog in. Then this car pulls up beside us and the dog and it turns out to be Mrs. Gump.  Mrs.Gump works at her school, so me and Fernanda recognized her. She told us just to go to school and not worry about the dog because she was going to call the cops to come pick it up. Fernanda was worrying because she didn’t want anyone to hurt the dog, I then texted my mom that I was heading on my way to school and I had to stop on the way because there was a dog, my mom ended up calling the police too. The police do end up picking him up, and I hope next time that his owners keep an eye on him because honestly it could’ve been worse.

nine, ten:

Nine, ten: by Nora Raleigh Baskin. This book is a fictional story which would be perfect those readers who don’t know what had happen on the memorable day, 9/11. It doesn’t start off right away when the first plane had hit the World Trade Center. It starts off by presenting each character in book, Sergio, Aimee, Will, and Naheed.

Nine, ten: takes place in 2001 from the days 9/9-9/11. Switching back and forth from all 4 kids perspective. It starts off on how all 4 kids lives are going before the great tragedy happen, in 2 days. They’re all in different schools and live in different states and they all have their own problems, either with friends, family members, culture. But all of them have at least something in common, which you have to read this book to find out. We can all relate to how their lives are going in some way, but all their problems will soon change in a matter of 2 days, and all of them will be affected by what is going to happen on Sep 11, 2001 at 8:46 a.m. Throughout the whole book I have found that nine, ten: doesn’t stick with just one story, it goes back and forth to see each child’s perspective. My favorite part of the book is when one of the characters realize how everyone comes together to mourn the day 9/11. It really got to me, and I’m pretty sure others would too. According to the book “All she could see was a see of people, who could not be more different but could not be more the same, standing together. And what she could hear, releasing into the air with sounds of the flute, were the names of those who had died, in this very spot, remembered always, floating on the music of a warm September wind.” (Pg. 188) This quote means that everyone is different and everyone is same in different ways, but every had one thing in common which was the pride and respect in those who had died on September 11.

The main characters are 4 kids who all have different story’s and perspectives to share. Aimee, Sergio, Will, and Naheed. Aimee is a new student at her new school in a new city and she’s missing her mom who has to fly away to New York on business. She does deal with some bullies and assumptions if her parents are getting a divorce, but she’ll soon fit in. Sergio, who lives in Brooklyn, is struggling to come to terms with the absentee father he hates and the grandmother he loves. There are some problems that goes on between he and his father, but he soon finds a friend that will distract him from his problems. Will’s father is gone too, killed in a car accident that left the family mourning. Will has his family to distract him, but he also has an old friend to help him get back to his feet. Naheed has never before felt uncomfortable about being Muslim, but at her new school, she’s getting funny looks because of the head scarf she wears. Even if her school life isn’t the best she does find somebody to be by her side. All 4 kids share something in common, they will soon be affected by the 9/11 attack and they will heal and mourn for those who had lost their lives on the day.

I enjoyed reading this book, flipping each page all the way to the end. I enjoyed how the author had ended the book it was really touching and I’m sure all people can relate. This book is one of the books that can inform kids on what happened by reading it through a fictional story. Have you ever read any other 9/11 books? Would you like to recommend any of them to others? This book was easy to read, but didn’t exactly went straight to the point. In the beginning it  brought each character’s own story to the book. I have to give credit the the author she did really well on providing information and realistic perspectives from each character. I don’t think I’ve read any of her other books, but I’m sure I would probably read another book from her and I hope you do too, maybe even read this book! Have you ever read one of her books? If not there’s a hyperlink I left for you to know more about the author and her books. I really hope you decide to read this book, any of Nora’s books, or any of the other books I have reviewed on! But I really hope that you decide to just read books in general.

Eat, READ, sleep, repeat

Slice of Life - 3

Wow day 3, I think *hope that I’m getting the hang of writing every day. This morning I wake up to the smell of BACON ๐Ÿฅ“. Delicious, but I also remembered that today I had to finish writing my book blog for the book ‘nine, ten:’ which I will soon post. The point is that, I finished another book, wow. I read A LOT, but it’s never “too much” for me it’s always “not enough”. I always see kids from my school, who would usually decide to pick up the phone instead of a book, well when I have to choose I always pick the book. Reading makes me have this warm feeling inside, like I don’t want to stop flipping the pages. I don’t just “like reading”, I LOVE IT. I love the feel and smell of the paper, it’s like TV in a book, it gives you inspiration, imagination, basically any feeling you hope to get out of the book. Every time I finish a book I feel this proudness in myself that I completed another, but also this sadness because the book WAS SO GOOD. Which is why I’m so glad I could write book blogs to encourage others to read the books that I’ve read so they can get the same feeling. I don’t know if you know, but I finished reading the biggest book I have ever read... ‘IT’ by Stephen King. I posted a book blog about it if you want to know more, but that was a huge challenged I had completed and I wasn’t gonna stop there, no I picked another book to read. It only took me 9 days to finish the book, nine, ten:. Now it’s time to type another book blog ๐Ÿ˜Š. I will always love reading I’ll never stop, like today I decided that since I have a 3 day weekend I’ll start reading the new book I got from the library, ‘Every Day’ by David Levithan. I’ve seen the movie trailer, but I’m not gonna watch the movie just yet until I finish this book! It’s best to read the book first and then watch the movie, you know to see the similarities and differences. Anyway I guess I got to get cracking on that book and also start filling up my book shelves! Oh and P.S. choose books!๐Ÿ“š

๐Ÿ˜ฑBackstabber

Slice of Life - 2

I found my haiku or sonnet that I had made in 7th, I never got to read it aloud so I decided for it to be my 2nd Slice of Life. This is just a lil’ something I made up....

Backstabber

An enemy who is behind a mask
She will want to be your friend so act fast
She will back stab you since that’s her real task
But remember your friendship will not last
So try all you can and try all you must
Do not share secrets or share who you love
Then very soon you’ll lose all of your trust
‘Cause there is many lies she could think of
For it is my fault for being her friend
Listen to the warning ‘cause I did not
You’ll want your friendship to already end
Because someone will soon take my old spot
For when the time is right her shell will crack
So watch out she will stab you in the back

                                                    -Vivian B.
                                                      June 1st, 2017

So yeah this is just something I made up in 7th grade, the reason I did write this was because I wanted to write something more “darker” than everyone else’s. I mean you see people making them about friends and family aka happy things, but not me. So I tried to make something my heart was telling me to write. Everyone has friends, and foes. It’s not the best but I do know a friend that had also made a sonnet WAY BETTER THAN MINE. I don’t know if she’ll post it, but I hope she does.

Am I up for the challenge?

Slice of Life - 1

Today is the beginning of March, the 1st of March to exact. Which means IT ALL STARTS NOW! And what I mean by that is that Slice of Life is starting, so I’m up for the challenge to blog every SINGLE day of March. I’m excited to compete this challenge. It would be a big and great accomplishment if I finish this! And I really encourage others to do this challenge with me and with the the others who are also in this challenge! I just wanted to make my first blog just about this moment, I’m really excited and not just for the field trip I would go to if I complete this challenge, but for the challenge itself.
